May 11 - June 2

In the 1920’s when radio ruled the airwaves and small stations thrived, music teacher Hazel C. Hunt received a radio transmitter as a retirement gift and station WGAL was born in Cedar Rapids, Arkansas. What comes out over the airwaves is a small town diary, calendar and stream of consciousness. Generous dollops of singing and playing by Hazel’s all-girl orchestra, The Hazelnuts and the lovesick flapper, Gladys Fritts.

The New Vic is known for producing great music and this production will quickly join the ranks as an audience favorite! With a stellar cast of singers and musicians, Radio Gals is sure to delight all.

Radio Gals features Jennifer Furney as Hazel, a woman filled with southern charm and grace. Joining Jennifer are New Vic veterans and audience favorites; Sarah Roddis, Jocelyn Furney, Heidi Cernik, Wendy Wheeler and Josh White. Rounding out the cast in her second production at the New Vic is Allison Ackerman as the lovesick flapper, Gladys.

You won’t want to miss the toe-tapping music and hilarity that ensues on The New Vic stage when Radio Gals arrives! This is a short run, (only six performances) so get your tickets now before they are all gone!

Radio Gals opens May 11 and plays Fridays and Saturdays through June 2 (closed Memorial Day weekend)  at The New Vic.
